For winning the Best Finance Transformation Project, Private Sector by ISCA at the Singapore Accountancy Award 2018.

Select Group is a renown player in the fnb industry with 160 establishments and more than 2000 staff. Their finance team handles high volume of transactions on a daily basis.

A prominent project they have undertaken is the “Meal Redemption Process in Changi Airport T3”. Prior to this transformation initiative, the staff are required to make multiple copies of receipts, boarding passes and meal vouchers whenever flights are delayed. These mundane activities are mandatory for the billing process to airline companies. Issues such as inaccuracies, delays, inefficiencies negatively impacted staff morale.

Select’s finance team decided to take on a transformation project to automate this manual billing process. The scale of this project was lauded by the judges to be massive as it involves automating an immense volume of receipts, boarding passes and meal vouchers linking their front-end and back-end systems. The most challenging part was changing the mind-set of service staff who had grown accustomed to the mundane processes. The finance team succeeded in implementing this initiative and it culminated a 80% reduction in the time taken to process these massive paperwork ! The project eventually created a positive impact both internally and externally. It has also brought much convenience and efficiency to the airline companies, and ultimately the millions of travellers who transit in and out of Singapore.
